Common Failure of Rotary Seal Valve

Failure situation: the motor current transient of the rotary seal valve is too large to the protection shutdown. Transfer the field manual operation to a certain fixed angle, and we can hear the obvious metal impact sound and the valve body is accompanied by severe vibration.

Causes: the falling off of the wear-resistant and heat-resistant lining of the focus gate of the coke car, the coke dry quenching and the coke jar, the dry coke filling device and other parts. If the size is larger than the height of the blade of the rotary seal, it will be stuck between the blade and the inlet, causing the rotary seal valve to stop in a hurry. The failure is most common one.

Processing method: open the upper manhole of the rotary seal valve, remove the wear-resistant plate of the blocking plug, and restore the production after installing the manhole cover.

Coke and graphite block plugging:
Failure situation: the motor current of the rotating seal valve is too large to the protection shutdown, and there is a piercing friction sound when the field manual operation turn to a certain angle. It is very laborious or the car is not moving when we handle the car.

Causes: when coke and graphite block fill up the chamber, the coke or graphite block is squeezed and friction with the shell. When the friction force is greater than the torque of the rotary seal valve, it will cause the rotary seal valve not to move or difficult to move. The failure occurs mainly in the coke quenching capacity of the CDQ (it is larger than 80% of the design value) or when the rotary seal valve interlocks abrupt. When the rotary seal valve is interlocked rapidly because of other equipment malfunction, the rotary seal valve and the vibration feeder will stop simultaneously. The remaining tar in the vibration feeder falls to the rotary seal valve chamber.

Processing method: change the rotary seal valve from automatic control to manual control. Alternate the field manual operation and reversal operation, and rotate the upper grille of the material to the lower outlet part, so that the coke is emptied. If this method is still unable to make it rotate, we need to open the upper manhole of the rotary seal valve and pick up the blocking material.
