The Role of Centrifugal Shaft Seal for Water Pump

When the pump shaft of a centrifugal water pump passes through the pump body, a necessary gap is formed to ensure the normal rotation of the shaft seal for water pump and the sealing of the pump body. However, this gap also becomes a potential passage for high-pressure water leakage and air entry into the pump. To prevent these potential problems, a shaft seal device must be installed on the pump shaft.

The Universality and Practicality of Packing Seals

Among the various types of shaft seal for water pumps, packing seals are preferred due to their universality and practicality. This sealing structure mainly consists of key components such as a bottom liner ring, packing, water sealing ring, water sealing pipe, and packing gland. These components work together to ensure the sealing performance of the pump shaft.

The Principle of Packing Seals

The principle of a packing seal lies in the close fitting of the packing and the shaft sleeve. When the pump shaft rotates, friction occurs between the packing and the shaft sleeve, causing the lubricant in the packing to be squeezed out and form an oil film on the contact surface. This oil film not only serves as lubrication but also effectively prevents high-pressure water leakage and air entry.

The Role of the Bottom Liner Ring and Packing Gland

The bottom liner ring and packing gland are installed at both ends of the packing, wrapped around the pump shaft. Their main role is to position and fix the packing, ensuring the stability and sealing of the packing on the pump shaft. The tightness of the packing is adjusted through the nuts on the gland. If the packing is too tight, it will increase the friction loss between the packing and the shaft sleeve, shortening its lifespan; if too loose, it will lead to increased leakage, reducing the pump's efficiency. Therefore, the tightness of the packing must be precisely controlled.

The Function and Characteristics of the Water Sealing Ring

A special water sealing ring is set in the middle of the packing seal. This water sealing ring has a concave shape in the middle, a convex periphery, and multiple small holes. When the pump is operating, the high-pressure water inside the pump enters the water sealing ring through the water sealing pipe and is then guided into the packing. This design not only realizes the water sealing effect but also cools the packing, reduces friction, and lubricates the shaft sleeve. The presence of the water sealing ring greatly enhances the reliability and durability of the packing seal.

The centrifugal shaft seal for water pump device is a key component to ensure the sealing of the pump body and the stability of the pump shaft. Through the reasonable selection and precise control of each component of the packing seal, efficient and reliable sealing can be achieved. In actual operation, attention should be paid to the precise control of the packing tightness, and regular inspection and maintenance of the water sealing ring, to ensure that the shaft seal for water pump device can operate stably for a long time, providing strong assurance for the safe operation of the centrifugal water pump.
